“Let The Journey Begin”
On this day last year, Kelli and I set out on what may just have been the vacation of a lifetime.
I haven’t done much with the 4000+ photos I took since I didn’t have any real software to do much with them. (I still don’t have the skill, but am working on that.) So for the next 16 days, I’m going to force myself to work through some of those photos, and share some of the travel tricks that we used to be able to afford such a trip.

“Attention”
My photo of the day effort has several purposes. I’m forcing myself to take photos, go through my photos, and get to know the different features and capabilities of photo editing tools. And from time to time, educate about or call attention to certain things. So here is one photo that might have otherwise went overlooked. It isn’t great, but the jpg it came from was worse. So today I got to play with different features, see what I can do with a jpg, and call attention to something. Mission accomplished.

“Evidence”
I took a week off my photo of the day while I stressed over my project at work that gets rolled out to thousands of users tomorrow, and to finish up the book report and final project for the online class I took this semester. Now that I have more time on my hands, I thought I’d get back to my photo of the day by showing what I’ve been up to. And what a fitting way by including the book I did the book report on and the manual I studied as part of the class.
This one is a bit of firsts for me. I haven’t set up any shots this far, since I have no lighting, no experience, no training and so far little patience for tinkering with it. But I threw this together in about twenty minutes with just using a flashlight. I think it works for the amount of time and equipment involved.

“Sore Thumb”
No, this isn’t a Photoshop trick. The pine trees in Colorado have been under attack by the mountain pine beetle that is killing them in droves, so much so that a green, living tree sticks out amongst the swaths of brown, dead trees.

“Endangered Species”
They were going to tear it down, but endangered peregrine falcons nesting on it have saved it for a bit longer. I think I’d be up for a ride if anyone wants to go photograph it sometime.
