Photo of the day 5/15/11 – “Evidence”

“Evidence”

I took a week off my photo of the day while I stressed over my project at work that gets rolled out to thousands of users tomorrow, and to finish up the book report and final project for the online class I took this semester.  Now that I have more time on my hands, I thought I’d get back to my photo of the day by showing what I’ve been up to.  And what a fitting way by including the book I did the book report on and the manual I studied as part of the class.

This one is a bit of firsts for me.  I haven’t set up any shots this far, since I have no lighting, no experience, no training and so far little patience for tinkering with it.  But I threw this together in about twenty minutes with just using a flashlight.  I think it works for the amount of time and equipment involved.

No, this isn’t a Photoshop trick.  The pine trees in Colorado have been under attack by the mountain pine beetle that is killing them in droves, so much so that a green, living tree sticks out amongst the swaths of brown, dead trees.

Photo of the day 5/5/11 – “Endangered Species”

“Endangered Species”

They were going to tear it down, but endangered peregrine falcons nesting on it have saved it for a bit longer.  I think I’d be up for a ride if anyone wants to go photograph it sometime.

Photo of the day 5/4/11 – “Untitled”

“Untitled”

Between homework and dealing with my vehicle matters, I didn’t have a lot of time tonight so I grabbed an old picture from my first digital camera (2.1 MP, bought in 2000) to see what I could do with it.  The colors were bad so I greyed it and I don’t think it looks awful considering the source.

Photo of the day 5/2/11 – “I Think He Underestimated the Cavalry”

“I Think He Underestimated the Cavalry”

I underestimated how savable this photo was.  It was way overexposed and harsh looking out of the camera.  But I’m glad I took Steve’s advice and didn’t delete it.  At least my underestimation wasn’t fatal.

Really, Facebook?

Facebook promotes the new polling feature with “Get answers from the people you trust.”

They then go on to say: “Questions is designed so that anyone on Facebook can help you find the answer. For example, when you ask a question and your friends answer or follow, their friends can see and answer it, too.”

So, Facebook has decided for me that I can trust my friends friends friends friends friends friend?
